On the runway, Marymee by designer Maria Rogers can be called a classier Betsey Johnson. In the stores she has your everyday, fun and sexy dresses and tops made of organic materials. Originally from Nor Cal, Maria graduated with a bachelors and masters in nutrition, bartending everywhere in Hollywood throughout school.
About a year ago, Maria decided to scratch being a dietitian and followed her dream of designing. Although she took the “real school” route, she knew she could learn the ropes of the designing and fashion business. Maria unified what she knows about nutrition and her love for fashion to create Marymee. Marymee is a universal word for love of eco consciousness and a healthy lifestyle: “Committed to women and the beauty around them”(Marymee motto). Marymee launched at The WNWN Fashion Show to kick off LA Fashion Week on October 12, 2008. Maria designs garments she would wear. Although based in downtown LA, Marymee is sold in Northern California and Chicago, and will hit the LA market in a couple of months. Marymee will also be sold in Europe and Russia.
Look out in Spring 2010 for Marymee’s new edgy line of sweatpants and hoodies made from organic cotton with a one-week sample meal plan for your average woman to shed a few pounds. Standing at 5’8’’, the beautiful and talented Maria Rogers is easily mistaken for a model. When in doubt, she can always walk in her own show. At 32, she is content with designing and looking forward to spreading Marymee all over the world.
